<![CDATA[As 2011 slowly comes to a close...]]>Sun, 11 Dec 2011 01:23:37 +0200http://omrilahav.com/1/post/2011/12/as-2011-slowly-comes-to-a-close.htmlAt the end of every year, more specifically, December 4th of every year, my own birthday leaves me in a rather reflective mood.
As a composer, I accumulate so much new music every year, that it's almost hard to keep track of it all!
So here's a quick review of the projects I finished this year that are closest to my heart :)

My band, The Assembly has released a 100% independent, 7 track E.P., "Running", featuring 3 texts and 7 compositions by myself.
I've composed scores for several indie films, most notably - Todd L. Green's comedy, "After the Thunder", which is my first IMDb credit, and Zvika Almog's "Eternal Journey", which was also my first 100% live performed movie score!
Have also played guitars and contributed some music to Evyatar Halimi's comedy, "Pizza Place from the Past".
Pain of Salvation pianist, Fredrik Hermansson had recorded my original composition, "Counting the Years", which was exsiting for me as he is one of my idols!
I came on board an open-source video game project called "0 A.D.", as the new music team lead I re-wrote the score from the ground up, and the game saw three Alpha releases that were heavy with musical content, including a brand new Main Theme, and two new realms of sound explored with the Carthaginians (Alpha 7) and Persians (Alpha 8)!
I've composed a score for Hadas Noam's awesome fighting game, "Witch", which was made entirely with stop-motion, hand-made woolen puppets!
Joseph Traynor and Omri Lahav's "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" (revisited) saw the curtain rise in Glasgow, Scotland, and was a huge success!
I've composed the theme and score for Sudoku Force, by the Israeli "Yes!" TV network.
Another new collaboration this year is the eternal rocker, Hank Lakee, and I was privileged to record the electric guitars on his debut solo album, "Lazuz Kadima" (Moving Forward).
In the field of iPhone apps, I've produced and performed the loops for a musical game called "The Band", there's a funky demo track if you're curious :)

I will keep this list partial for obvious reasons, and all I can hope for is that you enjoy the above music as much as I did, it represents a year of my life, and I am proud of it :)

<![CDATA[Geronium!]]>Mon, 19 Sep 2011 01:20:02 +0200http://omrilahav.com/1/post/2011/09/geronium.html0.A.D. Alpha 7, Geronium is officially released!
This immensely improved version of the game features lots of new music from me, and I'm very excited about it :)
"Honor Bound", a brand new 0.A.D. main theme, featuring a flute solo from Marta Mc'cave, "Dried Tears", defeat music track, two peace tracks for the newly introduced civilization of Carthage - "Peaks of Atlas", and "Mediterranean Waves", both featuring amazing performances by percussionist Dror Parker!
Last but not least, the Hellenic Tribes' peace track, "Forging a City-state" has been re-done and now includes an improvisation by flutist Marta Mc'Cave, and the remaining pieces of the score have been re-mixed and re-mastered.

Enjoy the music, and the game if you're into RTS :)

<![CDATA[First Post!]]>Tue, 13 Sep 2011 14:51:23 +0200http://omrilahav.com/1/post/2011/09/first-post.htmlSeptember of 2011 is turning out to be a strange month, what with my 26th (!) birthday looming in the near future... there is a sense of urgency about.
And fittingly enough, there's a lot going on, other then getting my site back on the air :)
0 A.D. is releasing Alpha no. 7 soon, which will be heavy on new music, and see a full re-mix and re-master of the existing score, The Assembly's debut E.P. is in final mixing stages, the short film Eternal Journey is going out to festivals, and in between all those, I've produced a protest song with Omer Dayan, and am taking my first Cello lessons!
The Assembly's bass player, Yotam Ronen is returning to Israel, so if you're around you might get to see some acoustic performances go down until our drummer returns from his trip to the States.

Stay tuned for updates as these (and other) projects come to fruition :)
